About hey!cookieJanet Ben-Ami, Pastry Chef/Owner of hey!cookie has many years of restaurant and catering experience. Starting as a teenager working in her Dad's Manhattan restaurant, she then went on to open her own restaurant in Brooklyn, NY and then to become the Executive Chef at a private catering facility on the exclusive North Shore of Long Island. It was during those years as Executive Chef that Janet became interested in the art and design of pastry. With any free moment available, Janet took classes with Master Cake Decorators and practiced and experimented with an all consuming passion.
Her passion for her art and her commitment to produce an excellent product led her to open hey!cookie in 2001. All cakes and confections are made from scratch. Hours - sometimes days - are spent on a single cake. A team of artists and bakers each contribute their expertise to every cake and confection.
